Security Update: Browser Isolation Starts Dec. 16

Information & Security December 12, 2024 enovak@emoneyadvisor.com

To further protect users from malicious emails and advanced web threats, we are rolling out a new feature called Browser Isolation. This feature helps reduce threats by opening links in a virtual browser, presenting a barrier to sensitive data.

Starting Dec. 16, links found within emails from external senders will automatically open in isolation. After clicking an email link, you will notice a blue isolation address bar within your web browser to indicate that the site opened securely. Please see the FAQs below for additional information. If you have any questions, please reach out to security@emoneyadvisor.com.

FAQs

Will all email links open into isolation?

No. We have already excluded several business-related sites that are deemed safe.  We have also excluded a few sites that have issues operating properly within isolation.

Will links within Teams be affected?

No, only email messages sent from external senders will be rewritten.

Can I exit isolation?

Yes. If a site opens in isolation and you know it is safe, you can click on the Exit arrow to the right of the isolation address bar:

Why am I receiving a blocked message?

If a site contains a security threat or belongs to a blocked content category, you will receive the following message. If you believe the site was identified in error, you may click the link to submit a Blocked Website Exception in the Service Portal.

How can I copy the URL that opens in isolation?

You can copy the URL by clicking on the copy icon on the right of the isolation address bar:

Why can’t I paste anything in isolation?

For security reasons, paste is disabled to prevent accidental data leakage. If you believe the site is safe to interact with, you can click the Exit button to exit isolation or you can submit a ticket in the Service Portal to request an exception.
