In preparation for the 2023 employee engagement survey this May, we’ll be spending the next few weeks highlighting some of the great progress we’ve made as an organization as a direct result of the 2021 survey results. This week’s highlight: career development. Read more below!
Don’t forget to take a look at the Q1 2023 Career Development Resources email that PX sent at the end of March! It’s filled with lots of great information so don’t miss out!
- While PX does a great job of providing resources and support for career development, it’s important to also highlight the incredible progress being made by managers within some of our business units.
- Eric Carroll (Manager, Client Support): Eric has worked closely with his team members to ensure everyone has development plans in DIG and spent a great amount of time connecting on a personal level with each of them to fully understand their aspirations and how he can support them in their career journey. Because of this approach, Eric had two direct reports – at the end of 2022 – move on to different roles within the org!
- Tim Curvan (Manager, Client Service Management): Tim and his manager Linda Bello saw that the work his team was doing in Data Entry was not reflective of their job descriptions or titles so he spent time with them, learned how the role had changed and worked with PX to update their titles and job descriptions to ensure their roles were aligned with the work they were doing on a daily basis.
- Caroline Grasso (Director, Advisor Sales): Caroline has been a big advocate of career development on her team and makes every effort to keep her team informed – she even sends a monthly Advisor Sales newsletter, which includes career development highlights on the team. Caroline’s approach to career development conversations focus on meeting the employee where they are, identifying what skills they want to grow, and what their career aspirations are because we all know that career growth looks different for everyone!
- The Architecture team held an informal book club during the tail end of 2022. Together, the team read selected chapters from the “Fundamentals of Financial Planning” textbook by Dalton, Dalton, Gillice, & Langdon. The book aided their team members in sharpening their strategic mindset competency and the team incorporated the book in their 2022 development plans!
- Chuan Au (VP, Quality Assurance) and his leaders helped team members expand their skillsets and knowledge by encouraging them to complete at least one online training course from Pluralsight, DIG, or O’Reilly Safari Books per quarter; and/or successfully achieve a certification in 2022. QA Team members also took advantage of curated competency learning bundle resources located here on the life@eMoney Intranet and incorporated them into their development plans.
- In 2022, there were five companywide events focused on professional development that hosted more than 500 attendees.
- Facilitated 10 instructor-led courses that nearly 300 employees attended in 2021 & 2022.
- Had more than 30 people sign up to shadow members of the Client Services department thanks to our Client Services Shadowing Program. Click here to learn more.
- More than $44,000 was spent in 2022 for tuition reimbursement through our education assistance program – allowing you to seek additional learning and development opportunities.
- More than 120 employees were promoted or transitioned into a new role in 2022. In the first quarter of 2023, 23 employees were already promoted!
- Hosted the first ever Growth Week – which was an opportunity for PX to highlight several resources and programs that are available to all employees to help each of you grow in your career and as an individual.
