March Charitable Giving Campaign

Employee Engagement Committee March 4, 2022 Elizabeth Mazanek

The EEC Charitable Giving subcommittee is kicking off its March campaign focused on food insecurity from now until the end of the month. Food insecurity is the lack of consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life.

Did you know?

  • One in eight families in America are hungry — that’s over 38 million Americans, including almost 12 million children.
  • 48% of college students in America are food insecure.
  • 15% of people in rural areas are hungry.
  • Food-insecure people are more prone to obesity.

For any donations made between March 4 and March 25, eMoney will make a 2:1 match on your contribution. You can make a donation to an organization that is near and dear to your heart, or you can choose one of our featured food bank charities listed below via Workplace Giving on NetBenefits.

  • Feeding America is the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States. Our mission is to advance change in America by ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all in partnership with food banks, policymakers, supporters, and the communities we serve.
  • Feeding San Diego is a non-profit organization on a mission to end hunger through food rescue. Our organization provides more than 40.3 million meals every year to children, families, seniors, college students, military families, and veterans in partnership with a network of 300 local charities, schools, faith communities, meal sites, and food pantries. Last year, more than 70 percent of the food provided to the community was rescued from local and national food donors.
  • Philabundance is driving hunger from our communities today and working to end hunger for good. It distributes more than 50 million pounds annually through a network of 350+ partners including food pantries, houses of worship, hospitals, schools, libraries and other service providers. Philabundance serves 135,000 people each week including college students, single parents and people who are working– a number that continues to grow due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Rhode Island Community Food Bank Association helps improve the quality of life for all Rhode Islanders by advancing solutions to the problem of hunger. We envision a state where no one goes hungry.
