Feautred organizations: The Baby Fold and Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill
I support two organizations through Workplace Giving – one rooted in our local community, and one in a place that’s become our “adopted community.” As global and local needs have grown in recent years, we’ve tried to live by a phrase that’s stuck with us: “What you can do, is all you can do.” During the pandemic, that meant showing up however we could and Workplace Giving has allowed us to extend our support even further.
Locally, we support The Baby Fold, a Central Illinois nonprofit with a 120-year history. What began as an orphanage for children on the “orphan trains” has grown into a full-service agency offering special education, foster care and adoption, family services, and the Healthy Start program for new mothers. We’ve supported The Baby Fold for many years and volunteer annually at their largest fundraiser, the Festival of Trees.
In our adopted community, we support Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Kentucky. This 3,000-acre National Historic Landmark preserves the legacy of the Shakers – an inspiring community rooted in simplicity, equality, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to nature. We’ve visited for decades, and it’s become a place of restoration, reflection, and shared values.
