25th Anniversary Employee Spotlight: Kathy Hieng

25th Anniversary June 3, 2025 Grayce Turnbach

eMoney’s 25th anniversary is more than a milestone – it’s a celebration of our shared achievements, resilience, and growth. It’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, the culture we’ve built, and the impact we’ve made. Being part of that journey for the past 9 years has been both humbling and inspiring.

One of my favorite parts of working at eMoney is the opportunity to collaborate across teams. I enjoy the challenge of bringing different perspectives together to achieve meaningful results. At the end of the day, it’s the people who make this place special – we’ve truly hired some of the best and brightest!

We incorporate AI into our financial planning.

I first discovered eMoney while working as a financial advisor’s paraplanner and instantly fell in love with the platform. When I attended a training at the San Diego office, just down the street from my own, I immediately felt at home and knew it was a culture I wanted to be a part of.

Although I was initially told I couldn’t be hired due to conflict of interest, I believed this was my dream job. So, I took a leap of faith, left my job without another lined up, and reached out to the recruiter. Two weeks later, I was hired, and I started on Leap Day – talk about luck! Since then, it’s been an amazing journey.

Since then, Kathy’s carved out an incredible path:

  • From Client Support to Success Coaching
  • Then to Financial Planning as an Analyst
  • Transitioned to Product Owner in Internal Systems (now Enterprise Solutions)
  • And in 2023, promoted to Senior Enterprise Solutions Owner!

I loved starting traditions in the San Diego office to boost engagement. Decorating everyone’s desk for their birthday and baking treats earned me the nickname “Kathy Crocker.” When it was my birthday, the whole team made it truly special by surprising me with gifts and treats.

I also enjoyed hiding Easter eggs around the office and creating fun riddles to find the golden egg – those moments brought us all closer together.
