Featured organizations: Hands in 4 Youth and Ronald McDonald House
One of the organizations I support is Hands in 4 Youth, the organization behind Camp Vacamas – a place that holds deep personal meaning for my family. My mother, her siblings, and later, my brother, cousins, and I all attended this camp. For my mom, who grew up in Harlem as one of five children, Camp Vacamas offered a rare and life-shaping summer escape, made possible through the generosity of donors.
She often credited those weeks in Northern New Jersey with sparking her love of adventure and turning her into a strong swimmer – skills she passed on to me. Now, when I swim past the breakers with my own children, I’m reminded of how far-reaching Camp Vacamas’s impact truly is.
Hands in 4 Youth believes that every child deserves a transformative summer experience. Their programs focus on developing social intelligence, self-efficacy, and educational strength – helping young people grow into empathetic, engaged global citizens.
Though I’ve only contributed through donations, I take every chance to share their mission – especially when the topic of summer camp comes up. Their impact speaks for itself.
Another organization I support is Ronald McDonald House, an organization focused on providing support and services to families battling pediatric cancer and other serious illnesses.
During one of the Finance and Legal all-hands meeting, we had the opportunity to build skateboards for the children at the Ronald McDonald House. During the event, a representative from the Ronald McDonald house shared the organization’s history and educated us on all the great work that they do. For those that may not be aware, Tight End Fred Hill and the Philadelphia Eagles played an instrumental role in establishing the very first Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia.
